Educating kids about food, from source to plate

Bryce Taylor’s Shrimp & Strawberry Salad

Chef Bryce Taylor is a 16 year old, Baltimore city native who is well on his way in pursuit of his dreams of having a high-powered career in the world of Culinary Arts.

He is passionate about cooking and promoting fun and healthy recipes for his peers. In addition to his passion for cooking, most impressive is his vision and mission is to create cookbooks geared towards helping his peers prepare quick and healthy after-school meals for themselves when their parents are working.

Chef Bryce has partnered with Baltimore City Schools, and had his very own cooking segment, “Cooking with Chef Bryce Taylor” which aired on Comcast Education Channel 77 and Vimeo for Baltimore City Public Schools. Currently, he is also a Student News Reporter for the City Schools Student Media Team. In this role, Bryce reports on education, CTE and learning, current news and of course culinary arts within his community.

To help us celebrate #NationalSaladMonth, Bryce was kind enough to give us his spin on salad – we’ll admit, we wouldn’t have thought of shrimp and strawberries, but now we absolutely cannot wait to try this combo!

Throughout the month of May, we are hoping to spread the salad love, and are raising funds for our salad kit program, an integral piece of our Days of Taste program which allows students to bring their newfound food and nutrition learning home to their families. Give a salad kit to a student and their family here.
