With a Little Help From Our Intern

TasteWise Kids Welcomes a New Intern to the Team

We are excited to have Ananikay Wilson join us as an intern during the spring semester of her senior year at Coppin State University where she is majoring in Business. To get to know her better, we asked her some of our favorite interview questions. Check out her answers below.

How are you involved with TasteWise Kids?

I will be TWK’s new project intern, assisting wherever I am needed within the organization. I hope to focus on social media but I also hope to get a taste of a little bit of everything.

How else are you involved in the food scene in Maryland?

I currently work as a Food Service Worker at Coppin State University. My job is to prepare, cook and serve the food to our customers daily.

In your opinion, what makes TasteWise Kids so special?

When I was growing up I didn’t have anyone to show me the different techniques or styles I could eat vegetables. It was whoever cooked them cooked them their way and you had to eat what was given. Which kind of made me grow to dislike vegetables. But as an adult I’ve learned new seasonings, cooking techniques and about different vegetables that may exist. TWK offers this kind of exploration to kids.

What is your favorite vegetable?

My favorite vegetable is green beans. I love how you can dress them up different ways. Sometimes I use garlic, other times I use a beef stock and salt and pepper to add to the flavorings.

If you could travel to any city in the world for a “food trip,” where would you go?

If I could travel to any city for a food trip I would travel to Hawaii. They have a lot of different cultures over there and their food is always so colorful and lively.

What is your favorite thing to cook at home?

My favorite thing to cook at home is salmon. My salmon specialty is a creamy spinach stuffed salmon slice on a bed of fresh spinach.

What is a favorite food-related memory from childhood?

My favorite food that is related to my childhood is homemade chicken & broccoli alfredo. My mother used to make it for me whenever I had a special occasion.

What are a few things that are always in your fridge?

  • Vanilla almond milk (at least 2 cartons)
  • Fresh green beans
  • Bacon

Thanks Ananikay for telling us a part of your story! We can’t wait to have you dig your hands into the metaphorical dirt and work with us.
